HIMSS 2018 and Innovations in Healthcare: #Kareochat Recap
Leading up to the HIMSS 2018 conference in Las Vegas, NV, excitement was in the air among #Kareochat participants. (Join the chat every first and third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. PST/12 p.m. EST.) They chatted about topics ranging from workflows to 3D printing to navigating the conference and the most anticipated events!
Participants joined host Chuck Webster, MD, @wareFLO, Social Media Ambassador for #HIMSS18, to chat about a variety of topics of interest to those attending the annual conference. Here's a recap:
What Workflow Problem Are You Trying To Solve? Any Presentations or Products Seem Promising?
Workflow is a topic that is always being discussed. How are we doing? How can we be more efficient? All great questions to ask to continually improve ourselves.
All purposeful human activity relies on workflow. Really! But it is so fundamental, that it is like the air we breath! Did you know that we humans did not know air existed until just a few centuries ago! Think about that! Do fish know about water? No! #KareoChat #HIMSS18 https://t.co/2SFDPcDWlh

Technology is a helpful companion to workflow!
There is a lot to cover so let's jump in! #KareoChat Topic 1: Workflow

Have You Tried a VR Headset? Where Do You See The Biggest Use In Healthcare?
A few of the chat participants have used a VR headset, and found them to be very exciting!
T2: I tried a headset at #HIMSS17. I have also tried AltSpaceVR thanks to @wareflo. #KareoChat

I have used #VR for fun (that shark VR was crazy!) and for a client - Used VR to engage trade show attendees. Very cool. Follow health protocols between uses, though. #PinkEye #KareoChat

Can You Foresee a Use Case For 3D Printing?
3D printing is not that far from use in a practice. Custom fit casts and prosthetic hands are already in use. The participants pointed out how 3D printing is already helping many people.
T3: 3D printing is opening so many practical doors. It's amazing to see how many people it's helping. It's also fun to see all the things @wareflo comes up with to print via his 3D printing farm to take to #HIMSS18! #kareochat
