By partnering with SureScripts, we electronically prescribe to over 50,000 pharmacies across the United States. While a very small number of local pharmacies don't yet accept electronic prescriptions, you can still print prescriptions for patients if their pharmacy is not listed.

Yes, when we first launched our EHR, it was free. Our goal was to let customers get to know us as a company through the experience of using the EHR. As we developed the EHR into a fully functional and fully certified product and integrated it completely into the Kareo platform, we decided to include it as part of our affordable overall solution.

Kareo Clinical is cloud-based, so all you need is a computer (PC or Mac, laptop or desktop) with a recent web browser (we recommend Firefox and Google Chrome) and a high-speed Internet connection. For Macs, we recommend Mac OSX Mountain Lion*, as the built-in voice recognition is the same as iPad and iPhone, and works great out of the box. For your PC, Dragon medical* is compatible with Kareo Clinical for dictation. *Dictation software listed is not included with Kareo Clinical and must be purchased separately if you need to dictate.

Yes! Please do! We have an application for iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and Apple Watch - they are a free download from the Apple Store. The iPad version is designed for in-office use. It has a similar feature set to the platform you can plus it is easier to carry, you can take pictures straight to documents and dictate with Siri. When you are logged in as a provider, you can e-prescribe, send e-referral and e-labs, and view lab results. The iPhone app can be used to check your schedule, and to review patient charts and recent notes. The patient phone numbers are "click to call", making it easy to reach out to patients on the go. Of course! The note writing and template system was developed for mobile use. You can use the same note writing system from the desktop, along with all your personalized templates. The only difference is the interface is optimized for touch, since most of our fingers are a wee bit bigger than a mouse cursor. All customized templates are automatically synced to the iPad app.

Customers tell us they find Kareo very intuitive and their learning curve is surprisingly brief. We try to make it easy! Kareo Clinical comes with a built in, completely free Demographics Import Tool. To access it, go to Practice Settings -> Data Management -> Import Demographics. Be sure to download the CSV template and input all data in the proper format. The tool contains a validation engine to make sure your data is looking good before it’s brought in. Kareo EHR gives you document storage, so you can upload paper charts, intake forms or whatever else you may need to store clinical data.

Kareo Clinical has over 200 system templates including one each of the AAFP’s 100 top primary care reasons for visit, along with 44 mental and behavioral health templates. Our talented clinical staff adds new ones when they see a need and we updated them to work well with ICD-10. Finally, you can easily only see the templates applicable to your specialty by "filtering" our templates in MySettings -> Templates by clicking the "Set Specialty Filter" button.

Yes! You can customize your own templates with our Template Editor Tool. The tool allows you to adjust existing templates or create your own. If you want to update templates we recommend you take our free one-on-one Template Editor training to get you up to speed on this feature located in the Kareo Help Center. If you’re not interested in modifying templates on your own, we provide a Custom Template Creation Service at an hourly rate. We also have tools to create custom note types - e.g. modify the note types you use regularly. For more information, contact your Success Coach or our Support Team.

From the patient's facesheet, click on "+ Note" in the upper right. It will open a SOAP note by default, which can be updated in My Settings, or you can select another note type (basically a form with sections) by clicking on the down arrow and selecting that note type. Then just click in the different sections and start typing ... or use templates or text short cuts. Add or remove sections if you don't see what you need right away. It is that easy.

Our notes have specific sections for the documentation you are trying to complete with specific templates attached to each section. For example, your note starts with CC (Chief Complaint), Medications, Allergies, Vitals in addition to Subjective, Objective, Assessment and Plan. Sections can be added or deleted as needed. Medications references Lexicomp for easy medication look up. We have a one click normal template for Objective and search for ICD codes by problem description in the assessment section. Finally, you can write prescriptions and find educational material in the plan section.

You can do this electronically right within Kareo. We have a direct messaging feature, powered by Updox, that allows you to send and receive referrals as well as receive consults back. We also allow you to eFax summary documents.

Yes! Electronic lab orders and results retrieval are free for over 40 different labs, including LabCorp and Quest. Refer to the lab lists online at the Kareo support site. If you want a different lab connection, we can explore that. There may be a nominal fee from our partner, LabSoft. Your Success Coach can help you set this up.

We currently support electronic interchange with over 40 different labs. If the labs you work with are not on our list, you can have your lab contact our Enrollments team. We will work with the lab to get them integrated with the Kareo Clinical. There may be a nominal fee for this work.

Yes, Kareo Clinical supports e-Prescribing for Controlled Substances via its partner Dr. First. There is a separate sign up process after enrollment with SureScripts and a one time $75 application fee. Ask your Success Coach for more details.
